Gluten Free Crust
Eating healthy…a popular notion in the restaurant industry these days. What is 575 Pizzeria doing to help people choose healthier eating alternatives? Well, to be quite honest, not much. You see, 575 already offers the healthiest pizzas and salads around. There’s simply not much more we can do in this department; however, we have discovered that there is a whole bunch of people that can’t eat pizza because of the gluten found in flour and traditional pizza dough.
This condition is known as celiac disease and is thought to affect at least 1 in 133 Americans, and countless more suffer from gluten sensitivity. Unaware of the magnitude of this condition, 575 listened to a few of its customers who suffered from celiac and began testing a gluten-free crust. Testing rapidly moved into developing space in our kitchen to accommodate this new menu item as tons of celiac sufferers heard the news that we were trying a gluten-free crust. Now, we’ve had the pleasure of hearing things like “I haven’t been able to eat pizza for over 25 years” or “this is my first pizza ever” coming from one sweet little 8-year old girl, thanking us from the bottom of her heart.
Our gluten-free menu started with testing gluten-free dough, but recently we’ve added a couple of gluten-free alcoholic beverages to the mix with Redbridge and Ace Cider. All of our appetizers can be made gluten-free, and we’re working on a gluten-free dessert. What we once believed was a fad, we now see as pressing need by hundreds of Americans right in our own neighborhood, and 575 is excited to be one of the few places in town to serve that need.
We understand that there are challenges eating out with celiac disease, and we want you to feel comfortable asking any of our staff members to check into any ingredients you have concerns about. Furthermore, our staff is trained to understand the importance of cross contamination with our flour products, and our gluten free crust is served and cut with utensils reserved specifically for our gluten free products. 575 is a member of www.glutenfreeregistry.com as well as other gluten-free websites, and you can find the ingredients to our gluten-free dough listed below:
